In order to prove the results of the PLoS ONE study, a follow-up study was later on conducted by some Iowa researchers on mice wherein which they subjected two sets of mice to rich fatty foods and one group of the mice received ursolic acid. The special set of mice developed higher degree of skeletal muscle and also did not gain as much weight as the other group that did not receive the ursolic acid. Although the absorption rate of ursolic acid is different in mice and humans, yet the study clearly revealed the effectiveness of ursolic acid in controlling excess weight.
